A task is an operation available for the final user.
A task can be created by selecting a folder on the catalog and on the contextual menu, and it can be activated with a right click, choose New ---> Task.
A form like this will appear:
Each task has a name and a description (visible from the graphic screen) and an internal procedure to launch.
If the interface is visualized as asynchronous (ls async) the interface will not remain stopped until the end of the execution of the associate procedure.
If checkbox 'Is a job' is set to true a task became a job. A valid job must have at least a Job status procedure set.
